  • Clustered Bellflower Campanula glomerata

The  clustered bellflower is a showy plant. It is a very hardy perennial that blooms beautiful colorful flowers. The colors can vary from plant to plant but they include white, blue, purple or a mix of all three. The blooms can have a darker color toward the inside of the bulb and a lighter color lining the rest of the petal. Or the tip of each petal can actually be a darker color. The campanula glomerata also has a very pleasant scent.

This plant has long sturdy stems. They are a lighter tan color and they resemble the stem of a rose. The leaves are a light green color and they are oval with a pointy tip. The flowers form in clusters at the top of each stem. These plants can reach up to 12 inches in height and the blooms start in mid summer and continue until early fall. They make an excellent ground cover as they spread rapidly. It is a very aggressive type of plant and under the right conditions it can over run other plants that surround it. Can tolerate dry or wet conditions and is deer resistant. Does great in xeric rock gardens.
