Cameo Flowering Quince (Japanese Quince)
Chaenomeles x superba
Decidous, compact shrub grows abundant clusters of double, coral pink flowers in spring. Grows thorny tangled branches in a bushy and  dense form. The gorgeous pink flowers give way to small yellow/green edible fruits. These fruits are considered to be too bitter to be eaten fresh but may be used in jellies and jams. This plant is easily grown in full sun to part shade and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including dry and clay - provided there is good drainage. Drought tolerant once established.
