Goldflame Spirea
Spirea x bumalda 'Goldflame'
A dense, upright mounded shrub with attractive bronze-tinged new growth in spring, that matures to a soft yellow-green and develops into a brilliant coppery orange in the fall. Panicles of rosy red flowers rise above the foliage in summer, creating a dynamic contrast. Excellent for brightening shrub borders. Good heat tolerance.
It is best suited to full sun conditions, especially to bring out its color. It is not particular about soil type but, like most shrubs, grows faster and blooms more profusely in richer soil.
This small plant adds a new dimension and color when planted in the foreground of shrub borders. Trim back the blooms after they are spent and it will re-bloom.
